SAS 70 | Why a SAS 70 Readiness Assessment is Essential

A SAS 70 Readiness Assessment is a vital and core component of any SAS 70 audit process. Do not look at the readiness assessment as simply an added burden or time commitment to the audit. Rather, look at it as a proactive, useful process for actually helping to gain audit efficiencies during the overall SAS 70 Type I or SAS 70 Type II process.

A SAS 70 Readiness Assessment helps a service organization truly understand their control environment; it helps your organization identify the weaknesses or gaps that may exist before you actually begin a SAS 70 Type I or Type II audit. Service organizations will also benefit from a readiness assessment in that it helps define audit scope along with giving your organization a good understanding for what auditors will actually be inquiring, examining, and testing for during the audit process.
