SAS 70 Type II audit Reports | Are you Getting a Fair Fee?
As with anything in business, a concentration of providers brings down the price of almost any good or service. Such is the case with SAS 70 audits. As recent as three years ago, there were not that many providers outside of the big four accounting firms that had the skill and expertise in performing these audits. As such, prices were a premium. How much has changed in 36 months, as the number of CPA firms providing SAS 70 audits has grown tremendously. But are you really getting the fee you deserve-a fair and equitable number that is in line with other CPA firms providing these services? Maybe maybe not.
Its important to consider the following issues when it comes to pricing for a SAS 70 audit:
1. Type of CPA firm
2. Scope of the audit
3. Testing period of the audit (if a SAS 70 Type II is being conducted)
4. Physical location of the audit
5. Travel and out of pocket expenses for the audit firm conducting the audit.
6. Audit preparedness (i.e., do you need a SAS 70 Readiness Assessment BEFORE the examination and testing of control begins?)
The above six points need to be identified and discussed internally within your organization before moving forward with a SAS 70 audit. Thus, discuss these point and also share them with the CPA firms that will be bidding on the SAS 70 audit services. You want to be able to compare apples to apples so you can make a wise, informed, and practical decision on who will be doing your SAS 70 audit.
