SAS 70 Audit Reports | Find the Right Firm at the Right Price $tructure

Finding a CPA firm to conduct your SAS 70 Type I or SAS 70 Type II can be a balancing act. You will want to find a firm that has a fair, equitable fee, but also one that is positioned to give you the quality of work and the brand recognition and industry expertise you will need.  Going with the cheapest provider will save you money, but you may get unnecessary headaches and other ominous problems in the future. For SAS 70 audits, cheaper is not better. That’s not to say you have to pay a premium to large, national accounting firms.  Not at all-that’s not what i’m saying or advocating.  Just remember that when speaking with CPA firms who specialize in SAS 70 audits, ask the tough and necessary questions about the experience that they have in your industry or closely related industries.  Some CPA firms are very, very good at certain industries for SAS 70 audits, but simply lack the expertise in other areas. Likewise, some CPA firms are generalists, and though they may not have deep expertise in any given field, they have conduced enough audits to lay claim to a certain level of proficiency for SAS 70 audit.

Also, make sure to get a fixed fee for the audit when obtaining proposals from CPA firms.  This means that the entire engagement-field work, out of pocket fees for travel, meals, etc.-are all included in one “fixed fee”.
