SAS 70 Type I & Type II audits can be considered expensive, time consuming and arduous to many. Though there are many ways to help mitigate these issues, don’t forget the benefits of going through a SAS 70 audit. There are many indeed. For starters, a SAS 70 audit is a great way to learn about your control environment, that is, making sure your day to day operations have an adequate system of safeguards and checks and balances in place. We live in a glass house these days, thus any wrong move a company makes, any security breach that occurs, the public at large will sure find out about it. A SAS 70 audit can also be a highly effective marketing tool, helping organizations win business contracts that may of been unreachable in the past. What’s more, many request for proposals (RFP) that organizations come across are asking for them to be SAS 70 compliant, or don’t bother bidding.
